A therapeutic approach to yoga for children on the Autism Spectrum, ADHD, ADD, as well as infants and children with Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, learning disabilities, and chronic diseases (asthma, depression, diabetes, pain, cancer).
Why do children benefit from yoga?
Yoga is a noncompetitive activity that helps children with special needs achieve both physical and emotional balance by developing strong and flexible bodies. Yoga teaches body self-awareness while strengthening motor skills and coordination. Self-esteem and confidence are boosted and concentration is enhanced. Through breathing exercises, postures and restorative relaxation, yoga increases mental clarity, emotional stability and a greater sense of well-being. All participants can experience the benefits of yoga and restorative relaxation. Karen specializes in working with children with Autism Spectrum disorders.
